Syverson could not rule out the possibility of iGaming legalization in Illinois in 2023. He confirmed that land-based casino facilities will begin to be built in 2023, and he expects the entire process will take time. The Senator said the state was busy dealing with laws regulating traditional casinos, and considerations for online casinos will come after. State Senator Dave Syverson said the probability of passing the laws this year is zero but certain in the future. The state may not pass the laws in 2022, but it is expected to pass them sooner than expected. There is some form of online gambling that goes on in the state, but no law is yet to be passed. Illinois passed online sports betting laws in 2019 but remained silent on online casino gambling. Illinois might come on board sooner than expected Connecticut joined recently, but four other states are planning to legalize iGaming soon. New Jersey and Delaware adopted internet gaming in 2013 and have made several bold steps since then. You can access iGaming products in New Jersey, West Virginia, Michigan, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. To date, only six states have legal iGaming.
